here's a confession for you. i love old stamps. as anyone who has received a letter from me would know. i found the honey hole when i discovered precious owl. i almost didn't want to share! for $4 I literally have hundreds of nautical stamps from all.over.the.world! in my possession. oh the possibilities. inspired by an old kate spade print i saw ages ago, i decided i'd make my own little art work. just three frames for now, but i think a big one is in store for JB's office. {below are all from places JB has been}
trying to figure out a way to incorporate these for the travel themed shower for a couple we're throwing next month ... hmmm.
thoughts?

Gosh, Sarah. What a fantastic idea. I think I have a new creative outlet...
ReplyDeleteI love old stamps, old postcards... anything vintage from a time where people would actually sit down and write letters instead of emails.
ReplyDeleteThis link is for a travel themed wedding, but I bet it can help you

What a great idea! So glad you decided to share with us.
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I love the idea of framed art. This would look really cool in a gallery wall. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteRight there with you old stamps are so lovely!! Great project!
ReplyDeleteWhat if you put one on each of those cards that tell people what table they're sitting at? And maybe make thank you cards with those on them, too.
ReplyDeleteI love finding old stamps. Anything that reminds me of travel is cool in my book.
Oh wow! I LOVE this! :)
ReplyDeleteLoving the frame! And old stamps!! And the fact that they all match s nicely together :) Can you make me one of those as well?? :) pleeeeease...
ReplyDeleteCute! You could attach them to toothpicks and put them in cupcakes or food!
ReplyDeletelove this! I just ordered the stamps from Peru. I can't wait to get them. Thanks for sharing such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet idea.
ReplyDeleteHmm... maybe for the shower you could do little place setting postcards? Each could have one of those cute stamps.
I love stamps! I have hundreds that I found on Ebay, they are super cheap!
ReplyDeleteIdea:
Make "postcards" with one of the stamps on the front, and each guest can write a "marriage/life" tip on the back.
(It would be cool if you could find old, unused postcards to use.)
It would be fun for the bride/groom to look through their postcards on the honeymoon!
I love old stamps- I used them on my wedding invitations. They're like mini artwork! Thanks for the tip.

Sarah,
ReplyDeleteHere's a few more ideas I've picked up from helping other customers of mine plan their special events:
You can use the stamps on place settings. Use a specific stamp to represent where your guests are from or what their special hobbies or interest are. This helps to provoke conversation amongst strangers and it helps to show your guest how much you know and appreciate about them.
You can use the stamps as extra decoration on invitations and/or thank you cards.
You can glue the stamps to string and make mini garland/banners out of them. The garland can be used to decorate cakes or table settings.
Finally, I have a tutorial on my blog about how to make stamp collage notecards and if you need anymore ideas, just ask!
After adorning my wedding invitations with vintage stamps, I became so intrigued with the tiny pieces of art. I have a huge box of old ones that the stamp man gave me so I'll have to make one of these projects.
ReplyDeletehmm.. thinking of some ideas now. what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI have an obsession with vintage postcards. It's almost the same?
I love the framed stamps! And I especially love the soft turq candle in the lantern - clearly great minds think alike (:
ReplyDeleteThis is such a GREAT idea... thanks so much for sharing, I'd be tempted to keep it a secret too :)

ReplyDeletejust bought these :) perfect for adam!
ReplyDeletethese are adorable!
ReplyDeleteThat stamp art is beautiful! Perhaps you could find some old post cards at antique stores and/or yard sales and cut off stamps from them?
ReplyDeleteWOW that is a super neat idea! I love seeing what people collect when they travel! We purchase magnets and have an entire side of a fridge covered with places we have been. Some of our friends have purchased magnets for us (Egypt, Istanbul, Ireland, etc). So fun! xoxo A-
ReplyDeleteI would put them on toothpicks to insert on cupcakes :) But I do hate to throw away pretty little things, so it might be fun to use the stamps to create letters for their new Monogram, or put them on postcards for guests to share a piece of advice or a memory, which they can place in a large photo album after the event, or keep in a miniature vintage suitcase as a timesake.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea - just pinned it!

ReplyDeletelove them in the frame! so cute!
ReplyDeleteSarah, you're a genius! I used to collect stamps back in the day when we lived in Europe, and I NEVER thought to make art out of them. Seeing as how I still have about 20 frames I need to fill on our gallery wall, this might just be my ticket! :)
