I thought I'd share with y'all what a typical grocery list is for me.
{At the request of someone on my formspring}
This is what you'll typically find inside my fridge and pantries.
I eat to get energy, feel good, but also for pleasure. I always allow treats here and there - usually in the form of cheese or swiss chocolate.
This list is basically my "before i was married grocery list" - as now it includes more meat - since JB loves meat... and my love affair is more with veggies. Though I do crave a good burger or filet at times.
I'm also a grazer, I snack all throughout the day - so a lot of the above is snack food.
but healthy snack food. (:
What's some go-to items for y'all in the grocery store?
PS: thanks for all your kind words from last week. I'm feeling so much better.

Yum :)

@sarah - nutella! amazing... i never went without it in Switzerland ... must do the same here (:
ReplyDeleteand @miss chelsea- i usually put mine in smoothies!
My new obsession is Xochitl tortilla chips in the international aisle. They are the best tortilla chips ever! I also never leave the grocery store without asparagus and onion. I'm always cooking with both of them :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list! I love greek yogurt and have is for breakfast practically every morning! I also love POM! So DELICIOUS!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you know what is good with goat cheese? A spinach, avacado, and strawberry salad. It seems right up your alley.
berries and cheese (Camembert is a fav)
ReplyDeleteoh boars head is my GO TO deli meat. uggghhhhh i miss it. its what i bought every time in the states.
ReplyDeleteI always thought swiss cheese was swiss cheese until I tried Boar's Head. Ohmygod. It is amazing. Definitely a big difference between it and others. Will never get anything else!
ReplyDeleteI always hit the olive bar at our local Wegmans, Olives stuffed with Almonds are a serious midday treat :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely love hummus and cucumbers or a cucumber and lime juice/ tomato salad.
ReplyDeleteCan you recommend some healthy quick snacks to take to work? I always struggle with this!
Thanks sarah :)
wow, bless your soul. NO chips or anything! i don't know if i have the discipline. but ilove this post! thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletei wish i could buy gruyere...a misfortune of growing another human being - no raw milk.
ReplyDeletegreat list! I too am a grazer with a shopping cart that looks very similar. carrots, peanut butter, apples, and triscuts also make the cut for me.
ReplyDeleteand ingredients for soup or the season - lentil, black bean, butter nut squash, white bean chili, the list goes on and on...
yum - your list sounds really good. i shop for similair items. although, i do have a sweet tooth and ice cream is a MUST :)
ReplyDeleteyour grocery list looks eerily similar to mine! i love everything you have here!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how pretty your list is Sarah! Mine includes a lot of the same veggies. But I must always also have mushrooms, frozen artichoke hearts, and edamame. I also like green beans and bok choy. FRUIT is always a big item too. I need to have a couple of varieties to keep me happy and that's what I snack on at night.

My grocery list looks a lot like yours - just add salmon!
ReplyDeletehaha, my before-marriage grocery list rarely had meat either. now, dear God, i better not forget it! (i've at least been able to change his taste to chicken, fish, and turkey and less red meat!) i hardly even ate dinner before i was married...just lots of snacks, or let's be honest, cereal. apparently men don't work like that?!
ReplyDeleteI like that you shared this! I love dried cranberries and some sort of dessert (like brownies or cake) from the bakery section :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list, as a college student it is definitely something I will print out and use as a guide at the store!
ReplyDeleteYour list looks a lot like mine...just add Oj with extra pulp, apples, grapes, protein powder, gluten free pasta, and trader joe's spaghetti sauce, and oatmeal!!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the Greek Yogurt you had, I would also add almonds, fresh berries, apples, Romaine hearts and hummus. :)
ReplyDeleteYou eat really healthy! I have to agree about OJ....I drink a glass every morning! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an impressive list full of goodness...my list is not quite as healthy as yours especially as I am addicted to these bruschetta crisp things and amaretto biscuits...I try not to buy them as often now as I tend to eat far too many in one sitting! Oh and dark chocolate, I just couldn't live without it!
ReplyDeleteAt the moment I am trying to buy something I have never tried before or don't know what to do with and try out a new recipe. It is starting this week although I am not sure with what.
What on earth do you do with all that milk! Your a much healthier eater than I think I could ever be! - Alyssa
ReplyDeletegirlfriend, i am a grazer too. also, love coconut water. i've started putting it in my smoothies.
ReplyDeleteok, quinoa. i have a love-hate with it. i love that it's a legit protein but i don't have any recipes that i love with it. do you have one? help a sista out.
greek yogurt+spices+couscous+raisins/craisins= what i eat every day.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Boars Head deli products! Lentils!! OH GOD! SO amazing.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm a single-lady I am usually just healthy snacking at night. Trader Joe's pita chips and hummus = AMAZING!

P.S. your profile pic at the top left-hand corner is beautiful. What a lovely candid of you.
ReplyDeletemy list is the same as yours. Minus the veggies. Mainly, because... I don't have time to use them and they never get used. the poor veggies end up rotting with me :(.. BUT I love this list. Very much my type.
ReplyDelete♥cheche
ooh, your grocery list is like a beautiful work of art! mine pretty much just revolves around garlic, quinoa & greek yogurt. staple items! oh, & some kind of meat for the boy. and herbal tea!
ReplyDeleteTotally LOVE this post! I'm printing this out and hanging it on my fridge! Perfect list. ( :
ReplyDeleteYour grocery list is uh-mazing - it looks a lot like mine when the bf is gone (he's also a meat lover)!

Sarah, I totally had a dream last night about this, no lie. I read your grocery list yesterday and was like "this is EXACTLY what is on my list, to a T" and I guess I kept thinking about it (because everything on it is SOOO good and like you, I am OBSESSED with my veggies and goat cheese is like candy to me) and I guess it made a big impact because I had a dream that you and I were totally discussing this list and the different foods we like and different ways to cook with all that is listed, etc.
ReplyDeleteIt was so weird. I remember it vividly.
total soulmates?
Yes to sparkling water (Italy did that to me) and avocados!! This is one impressive list dear, I would like to add a lot more brie, hummus, spinach and walnuts to my own current list.
ReplyDeleteOur basics (again you can blame Italy) are: tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, garlic, onions, mushrooms, sparkling water, wine, tea, coffee, some sort of meat :) oh and flour & eggs for pasta noodles.
You have inspired me to want to go grocery shopping again and it's only Friday! Yum.
